This album was the second collaboration between Jeff Beck and producer George Martin the first was the wonderful 'Blow By Blow' this album is perhaps not as good as the first but it is still very good and includes an excellent cover of the Charlie Mingus composition 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' as well as other delights such as 'Led Boots' it also marks Jeff's first collaboration with Jan Hammer/5().

A nice treat is a gorgeous "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" with cool jazz chops. J.H. (Vintage Guitar Magazine) (August ) Traditional blues, creative Jeff Beck stylings, and deliciously interpretive Hendrix covers rendered with supreme taste, but that doesn't tell the whole story.

One of Wired's finest tracks is an arrangement of Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat." Beck's playing is particularly alluring: cleanly ringing tones, weeping bends, and sculpted feedback form a resonant palette. Bailey and Middleton lend supple support.

Nov 09,  · 4. Jeff Beck – Wired. At a time when I thought Lynard Skynard could jam, the song “Led Boots” blew me away. I thought Santana’s Europa was deep and emotional until I heard “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”. When Jeff Beck is on, no one comes close. These songs taught me that the notes you play are only the beginning.

Beck’s cover of the Charles Mingus ode to Lester Young, “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat,” is an unlikely if not unappreciated inclusion that seems too understated to clock in as more than a tentative.
