The record was recorded live at the Bijou, and is spread out over 2 long LPs, with lots of room for tasty open-ended solos by Grover and the group. Includes the great version of "Lock It In The Pocket", plus "Funkfoot", "Sausalito", "Summer Song", and a long version of "Mr Magic". © , Dusty Groove.

"Live at the Bijou" is possibly the most influential jazz album for Philadelphians in the s. For those of us who were young at the time, this album awakened us to the entire genre. Its sounds are still hip today and should be purchased on its own, timeless merits. Grover may have passed away last week, but his music lives on forever.

Call this definitive: his best for those labels including instrumentals, song collaborations and Grover’s appearances on other stars’ records; the Grammy winners "Just the Two of Us" (with Bill Withers) and "Winelight" join the full-length versions of the classics "Mister Magic," "Knucklehead," "It Feels So Good," the sought-after "Summer.
