Janice was the lead vocalist on Najee's "So Hard To Let Go", and Cindy recorded I Can't Let Go. At any rate, a lot of those sessions singers traveled in the same circles. I was looking at an old Melba Moore cassette last night called "Soul Exposed" and it featured Lisa Fischer, Janice Dempsey & Cindy Mizelle on background vocals.

Oh how we love this album – and we think it may well be the best album ever from Charles Mingus! The set was recorded in that magical Mingus year of , but oddly not released until – missing some of the initial frenzy of his discovery during the Atlantic and Columbia years.

Janice Dempsey was a top background vocalist in the '80s, supporting Najee, Freddie Jackson, Lillo Thomas, and Smokey Robinson, among etherexthazecuhawdotibantiobe.coinfo some reason, she didn't get a fair shake at Geffen, which cut a session and then didn't release it. She came to Epic, and Paul Laurence did a solid job on her first and only album. Despite some outstanding uptempo arrangements and boisterous vocals 4/

Janice Dempsey Thirsty () Gimme Your Love How did the s how die of heartbreak over all the smooth tones coming out of their R&B, dance-pop, new jack swing, even heavy rock music like glam metal was starting to include timbres such as these on their releases.

‘Gimme Your Love’ and ‘Maybe You Can Love Me Anyway’ are my favourite songs from this album. Karise sings about her desires, her dreams and these gorgeous tunes really bring them to life. I long for a few more of these here, to balance things out with the rockier stuff.
