Sir Thomas Beecham left behind recordings of ten Mozart Symphonies. With the London Philharmonic Orchestra, from through , Beecham was the first to commercially record all of the Last Six - in addition to the 29th, 31st and 34th.

Superficially, most of the movement timings match those of labelmate Thomas Beecham's classic early s Royal Philharmonic set – but not Klemperer's steadfast pacing and humorless demeanor, especially in the percussive Andante march that gave # ("Military") its descriptive nickname, which Beecham treats as a sly game of toy soldiers.

This disc marks out Previn for me as Beecham's owne sonne as a Haydn interpreter, and his no. 88 in particular is the best Haydn symphony performance, other than from Beecham himself, that I know. No. 96 is nearly as good, it runs Beecham as close as any, but just hear the long woodwind trills at the end of the slow movement to find a specific /5(11).

John Cameron, baritone; Maureen Forrester, contralto; Sir Thomas Beecham, Beecham Choral Society, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. EMI 0 2 9 (2-disc set). There is no mistaking the music of Frederick Delius (). He was an English pastoral impressionist who created bucolic images of quiet moods and lingering beauty.
